Katy was obviously impressed by J.C.'s Bingo skills and we started a friendship, sharing places and tips about vanlife...

We finally met six months later, when Katy invited J.C. to an abandoned insane asylum, which sounds like the start of a horror film, but ended up being a delightful 9-hour date.

After a month of dating, we began traveling together across the country as Katy explored new states for her book research...

We had fancy date nights in the vans (Figg was around to chaperone) on rainy days in the New River Gorge Natl Park...

Tasted bourbon in Kentucky...

Went horseback riding in the Great Smoky Mountains...

As Katy's trip came to an end, we parted ways in Florida for the holidays until our first "Christmas" in January.

Back on the West Coast our love continued to grow and we started to build a life together.

We moved to the Bay Area for Katy's job, traded vanlife for apartment life, gave Figg a little sister named Binks, and continued to find new adventures to explore together...

Then one day we were visiting J.C.'s family and we went for a walk to the pond above their family home. In the rain J.C. asked Katy to marry him and she said yes!
